City of Gilbert Centennial Events - July 2nd, 2008

Medallion Hunt begins ~ First Clue will be POSTED at City Hall and Gilbert Public Library at 8:00 a.m., printed in the Mesabi Daily News & announced on WEVE. Brush up on your "Gilbert" history to win $2008.00!!! Sponsored by RLK Inc. (Must be registered with a numbered button to be eligible!)

Registration 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Old City Hall (Register to receive a numbered button, event information, walking tour brochure and also register with the Gilbert Alumni Association, purchase event tickets and Centennial merchandise.)

Aerobics with Sharon Asselin at the Community Center Auditorium 9 – 10 a.m.

Historical Open House at Community Center 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Historical Exhibits in Dining Room to tour at leisure. Exhibits by the Iron Range Historical Society, American Legion, Robert Kivela, Gilbert residents and 1951 Basketball Champions books by Tom Phillipich.

Teen Center Open House (old Legion Room) at Community Center 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Children’s Historical Entertainment by Living History Society of Minnesota 1 – 1:45 p.m. in Community Center Auditorium.

Children’s “Make and Take” Art Workshop by Sharon and Ken Asselin 2 – 3 p.m. in the Community Center Auditorium.

Children’s Story Teller Gloria Hegg 3:15 – 4 p.m. in Community Center Auditorium.

Car Cruise on Broadway 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Dance Lessons 6:30 p.m. with Barb and Al Nelson at Gilbert VFW.

Registration 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Gilbert VFW (Register to receive a numbered button, event information, walking tour brochure and also register with the Gilbert Alumni Association, purchase event tickets and Centennial merchandise.)

Dance to Sh-Boom 8 p.m. – 12 midnight at Gilbert VFW. Gilbert Centennial Committee will be sponsoring contests. (Must be registered with a numbered button to be eligible for prizes!) Sh-Boom sponsored in memory of Joe and Katy Omersa
